Lead Poisoning Preventation

Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention

Lead poisoning is a health risk for young children. Kids may be exposed to lead through lead-based paint or dust that is contaminated with lead. Lead testing should be done at at age one and two and for any child under age six that has never been tested. Lead Screening is available free by appointment.

Voluntary Institutional Control Plan

The Voluntary Institutional Control Plan (VICP) provides guidelines and recommendations to manage and prevent soil lead contamination within Madison County. You are encouraged to contact this office before starting any dirt work or soil disturbances to assure that you are not contaminating or recontamination your property with lead. For questions regarding the VICP you can contact Michael Brown 573-783-2747 ext. 313.
